This jacket is based off of the 1775-85 caraco in
Patterns of Fashion, and the sleeve detailing was copied from the caraco in
Fashion in Detail. I started with my 18th century base pattern and drafted the jacket skirts using the diagram in
Patterns of Fashion. The jacket is made from an 18th century style printed cotton, and lined with cotton muslin. The neckline and sleeves are trimmed with box-pleated and pinked strips of fabric. The outfit was sewn by machine and finished by hand.
